Who we are

A nation's gratitude, carried by volunteers.

Founded in 2009 by philanthropist Chris Ecklund, The Canadian Heroes Foundation creates awareness and support for our frontline responders, our fallen heroes, and their families. It is a tribute to all who have served, past, present, and future.

Our work is led by a volunteer board of directors, many of them veterans and bereaved parents who turned their own loss into a mission of remembrance. We are always welcoming new people who want to serve their country.

Memorial Vehicles

Across the country, families and veterans drive vehicles wrapped in tribute to fallen soldiers. Each one carries a name, a story, and a promise that they will not be forgotten. They travel to parades, schools, and ceremonies, turning grief into remembrance and conversation.

What we do

Three ways we remember

Beyond the memorial vehicles, our volunteers carry out two further missions: reuniting families with lost medals, and ensuring no Canadian soldier rests unremembered.

PROGRAM 01

Operation Lost Medals

A global effort to reunite the service medals of our fallen and former heroes with their families. A team of volunteer researchers traces descendants through genealogical records; donated or recovered medals are cleaned, re-ribboned, and mounted, then returned to family along with any service history we can find.

PROGRAM 02

Flags for the Fallen

More than 100,000 Canadians lie in 76 countries around the world. On Remembrance Day, and throughout the year, volunteers plant a Canadian flag at their graves so that no soldier rests unremembered. We help locate graves through public war-grave databases and, where needed, ship flags worldwide.
