Since the early 1900s

A place that has always been here

The Rocky Mountains rising above Fairmont Hot Springs Resort
1.2MGallons a day, still flowing
Early 1900s

The Fairmont name is born

Visionary John Hankey buys the ranch from Sam Brewer, renames it Fairmont, and offers a room and a soak for two dollars a day. A bathhouse follows, and a tradition of wellness begins.

1912

A cotton magnate falls for the valley

William Heap Holland arrives from Manchester, England, enchanted by the flowing hot waters. He harnesses the springs, builds the first swimming pool, and raises the barn that still stands today.

1957 to 1965

The Wilder brothers expand

A picnic at the springs leads Lloyd and Earl Wilder to buy the resort. By 1965 Lloyd is sole owner and launches the major expansion that turns Fairmont into an internationally recognized destination.

Today
