Website Case Study
Great Deal Search
Shoppers type a product once and see offers from thousands of stores across 23 countries on our own price comparison site.
At a Glance
We built Great Deal Search as our own price comparison site, and designed it so the search box does nearly all the work. A shopper types a product and sees offers gathered from thousands of vetted retailers, or taps a category shortcut instead. Coverage spans 23 countries, so the same page serves a shopper comparing prices at home or across a border.

The Brief
Price comparison only works when the search is quick and the prices are current. Our job was to design a page that gets out of the way of both.
- Put one search box at the centre of the first screen, with a clear button to run it.
- Offer category shortcuts for shoppers who would rather browse than type.
- Back the prices with a few plain words on refreshes, vetted retailers and coverage.
- Support comparisons abroad as readily as comparisons at home.
What We Designed
The page is deliberately spare. Its headline, Find the best price on anything, sits above the search field and a Search Deals button, with a row of category shortcuts underneath: laptops, phones, headphones, TVs, cameras, gaming, shoes, watches, furniture and kitchen. Four short points follow on real-time prices, thousands of stores, vetted retailers and coverage in 23 countries. That is the whole pitch, and the footer handles the rest.
We set the headline in Fraunces, a serif with a warm, slightly editorial character, and the rest in DM Sans for crisp labels and prices. A warm off-white background keeps the page calm and near-black type keeps it legible. One coral red is saved for the search button and key actions, so the eye goes straight to the place where shopping starts.
One search box
A single field and a Search Deals button lead the page, so comparing starts on the first screen.
Category shortcuts
Quick links from laptops and phones to furniture and kitchen turn a search into a single tap.
Five-minute refresh
Prices update every five minutes from vetted retailers, so results stay current.
Coverage in 23 countries
Merchants in 23 countries are included, and prices can be compared in the shopper's preferred currency.
How We Achieved It
Product offers arrive through a Kelkoo API integration, and prices refresh every five minutes, so a search returns what retailers are offering now rather than a stale list. Comparisons can run in the shopper's preferred currency, and links in the footer switch between Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and France.
There is no sign-up step: a shopper searches, compares and moves on. Around that core we followed our usual build standard, with five legal overlays in the footer for privacy, cookies, terms of use, legal terms and accessibility, a copyright year that updates itself, and structured data on every page. Popular searches in the footer give returning shoppers another quick way in.
